BEFRIENDERS PENANG is a voluntary organisation offering confidential emotional support service for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which may lead to suicide. Our services is free.

How to become a volunteer?

You don't need formal qualifications or previous experience, but a natural ability to listen and remain open-minded is essential. You need to be over 21 years old.

To get you fully prepared as a volunteer of BEFRIENDERS PENANG you are required to attend our Recruitment Training sessions to learn more about self development and active listening.

Details of our next Recruitment Training are as follows:-

Date : Every Monday and Thursday starting 24th May 2010, ending 1st July 2010 (12 sessions)
Time : 7.30 p.m. to 10.30p.m.
Venue : CHESHIRE HOME, Babington Avenue (Off Barrack Road)

A small charge (RM80) will be levied to cover cost of rental of premises, printing & stationery and refreshments.
